England footballer John Terry reportedly paid 400,000 pounds to his alleged lover Vanessa Perroncel to remain mum on their liaisons.

The settlement has compelled former lingerie model's publicist to announce that despite six-figure offers, she would not be selling her story to a Sunday newspaper.

Terry failed last week with a High Court "super-injunction" to prevent publication of details of his alleged affair with former partner of Wayne Bridge, his England team-mate.

Meanwhile, he has been sacked as Chelsea skipper.

"After much thought, I have made the decision that it will be best for me to take the captaincy away from John Terry. As a captain with the team, John Terry has displayed extremely positive behaviour," The Times quoted coach Fabio Capello as saying.

"However, I have to take into account other considerations and what is best for all of the England squad. What is best for all of the England team has inspired my choice. John Terry was notified first," he added.

In a statement, Terry said: "I fully respect Fabio Capello's decision. I will continue to give everything for England."
