Twenty jailed criminals were paid 20 pounds each to share a cell with pedophiles.
Although the criminals were hardly in any contact with sex offenders, they were terrified of being in the same vicinity of the pedophiles.
The inmates were moved while the wing was rearranged at top-security Whitemoor Prison, Cambs.
"One or two did not want to be on the same block as the pedophiles," the Sun quoted a prison source, as saying.
"They did not like the idea of moving into a wing used to hold some of the country's worst sex offenders," the source added.
The source also stated that prison is not a place meant for bribing the convicted criminals.
"There is no way these criminals should be bribed to obey prison bosses," Mark Wallace of the Taxpayers' Alliance said.
