Jail Term for Three Andhra Medical Students

Three medical college students from Andhra Pradesh have been slapped with a fine of Rs.1000 as well as a jail term for a year after a Vijayawada court found them guilty of ragging a junior medical college student in the year 2007.

The students, Nella Venkata Chalapathi, Chittimalla Ramprasad and Mosham Suresh are presently serving as house surgeons at Siddhartha Government Medical College's general hospital and are in the final phase of their MBBS course.

The student, K Satish was subjected to ragging in the premises of the college in July 2007. He had lodged a complaint and the matter was investigated by the police. A charge sheet was filed under the AP Prevention of Ragging Act (1997).
