David Ludwig, a Harvard obesity specialist, has put forward certain points keeping the best interests of children in mind.
Obese children need to get back to shape as soon as possible. In the scenario, temporary foster care for obese kids may be a better option than weight loss surgery especially in certain severe cases.
This is advocated not as a way to punish children or parents but to help both in achieving a common goal.
It is wrong to assume such a move as 'child neglect', on the contrary it is special care so that the child loses weight and also regains his lost self-esteem.
