Broadmoor, the s best-known high-security psychiatric hospital in the UK is all set to be sold off to property developers who may develop a luxury hotel at the premises.

Broadmoor is home to some of the most notorious criminals like Peter Sutcliffe, the Yorkshire Ripper, Steve Wright, the Suffolk Strangler, and Rachel Nickell's murderer, Robert Napper.

The aim is to sell of the premises and construct a new hospital for male inmates. It is anticipated that the cost of this new facility would be about £288 million. A spokesman for West London Mental Health NHS Trust, which owns the site confirmed these plans, "These plans are currently with the Department of Health. Buildings and land in the current hospital complex which were no longer needed by the NHS could be sold," he said.

Broadmoor has had its share of tragedy as there were 8 suicides between 2001 and 2008.
