Horny Goat Weed, which for centuries has been hugely popular as a garden plant, is said to be highly valued in China where for 2,000 years it has been used as an aphrodisiac.
The herbal remedy, known in Latin as epimedium, contains icariin which has a similar effect to Viagra, reports the Daily Express.
The plant got its name after a remote herdsman noticed his goats became sexually active after munching it.
Research shows Horny Goat Weed increases testosterone and blood flow, and herbalists recommend the remedy to both women and men for increased sexual pleasure and stamina.
It has no reported side effects and is available in health food shops.
Horny Goat Weed is a leafy plant that grows at high altitude and is found in the wild in Asia and Europe. Today it is available in tablet, capsule and tea forms.
