Himachal Pradesh - One of 10 States to Achieve
Official sources have confirmed that Himachal Pradesh has now become one of only 10 states in the country to achieve the Centre's 'two-child per couple' target.

The state has received a congratulatory letter from the Union government on its achievement. The state has also achieved total fertility rate (TFR) of two or lesser children before the targeted deadline of 2010.

Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal are the other states to have achieved this target.

State officials said HP was able to reach this milestone thanks to the improved health infrastructure in the state.
