Women carry double the risk of suffering a second heart attack within six years of the first. Not only this, women are twice as likely to die after a bypass surgery.

Statistics also show that nearly 25 percent of men die within one year of their first heart attack, while in the case of women, nearly 38 percent of them do not get past the first year.
