The health of eminent Assamese literatteur, Dr Indira Mamoni Raisom Goswami, who won the Jnanpith award in 2000, is currently critical and she is on life support system at the intensive care unit of the Guwahati Medical College Hospital.
She has been undergoing treatment since February this year for pneumonia.
Medical specialists attending on her are worried as her condition is deteriorating. Her organs have slowly started failing and are irresponsive to treatment. Her blood pressure is also a cause of worry as it is fluctuating, doctors said.
Many relatives and well wishers were seen making a visit to the hospital. Her condition is critical, doctors said.
