Health Canada issued the warning and said that the shortage of drugs could affect the treatment of various cancers and infectious diseases.

The warning comes after Health Canada decided to ban the import of drugs manufactured by Ohio-based Ben Venue Laboratories due to "substandard manufacturing practices."
