Michael Eugene Moylan of St.Lucie County was driven to a West Palm Beach trauma center on Wednesday by his wife for urgent treatment of a splitting headache.
Several hours later a bullet was removed from behind his right ear. And his wife April Moylan has been arrested.Although both husband and wife offered conflicting explanations throughout the day, the latter eventually told deputies she accidentally shot her husband, investigators say. Tuesday night deputies arrested the 39-year-old woman, a felon convicted of cocaine charges in Palm Beach County, and arrested her on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm. She was taken to the St. Lucie County jail.
Before Michael Moylan was moved to a West Palm Beach trauma center, the 45-year-old man told investigators he first thought the pain that woke him around 4:30 a.m. might have been an aneurism, said St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara. He told deputies he asked his wife if she had elbowed him in his sleep, the sheriff said.
Aneurysm is localized widening (dilatation) of an artery, vein, or the heart. At the area of an aneurysm, there is typically a bulge and the wall is weakened and may rupture. The word "aneurysm" comes from the Greek "aneurysma" meaning "a widening."
"Doctors confirmed that he, in fact, had a bullet in his head," he said.
As doctors tended to him, deputies say April Moylan left to return to the couple's home at 7219 Mystic Way, a house they bought two years ago in an upscale gated community near Port St. Lucie. They paid $449,000 for the three-bedroom home with a pool in The Reserve.

Investigators spent the afternoon interviewing April Moylan at St. Mary's Medical Center, where her husband's doctors attempted to "stabilize some clotting," Mascara said Tuesday afternoon. Michael Moylan was "stable and resting comfortably" at the hospital Tuesday night, a nurse said.

Both husband and wife have long criminal histories.
The husband's record lists more than two dozen arrests that occurred from 1988 to 2005, mostly on charges of drunken driving and related episodes, including probation violations and driving with a suspended license.
His wife's record includes 13 arrests from 1987 to 2005.
The arrests include allegations of multiple drug violations, including the selling of cocaine, car theft, failure to appear in court and driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI).
