Haryana Govt Mulls ‘Surgery Package Programme’

by Rajashri on Jun 17 2009 7:38 PM

The Haryana government is planning to launch a ‘Surgery Package Programme’ in hospitals so as to avoid unnecessary hassles that result from patients being harassed by attendants. The scheme is to start in Government Hospital, Sector 6, from July 1.

“In case, some medicine is unavailable in the hospital, it would be the sole responsibility of the doctor concerned to arrange it; the patients would not be asked to fetch the medicine,” said Government Hospital-6 Medical Superintendent V K Bansal.

The scheme will see multiple surgeries performed at the hospital for a fraction of the charge in private hospitals. The government also said that pre-operative check-ups and post-operative care, including medicines will be free for one week under the scheme.

Lab tests and imaging like ECG and MRI will also be available. Furthermore Rs 10,000 would be provided to surgeons in order to avoid financial issues when faced with emergencies.
