by Rajshri on Feb 1 2010 8:17 PM

Gujarat has increased the number of medical seats for the third time this year. Ketan Desai, President of the Medical Council of India said that another 50-100 seats could be added to the existing number most probably in Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Surat and Baroda Medical Colleges.

The Education department had announced the addition of 253 seats at the post graduation level on Friday.

“As per the amended law, MCI has allowed two students per professor at the PG level as against the earlier 1:1 ratio. Gujarat has been prompt and very active in implementing the requirements. As a result, the number of seats added this year across government medical colleges in the state, has seen a huge surge and much more in comparison to any other state across the country," Desai said, adding that Gujarat has quickly responded to the new norms released by the MCI.
