The first Panchkarma therapy centre in Punjab has been opened at Mohali. Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Laxmi Kanta Chawla inaugurated the center at the Civil Hospital in Phase VI.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Chawla said that people of this region need not travel all the way to South India to get Panchkarma therapy. “Medical specialists of Panchkarma therapy have been deputed at the centre to provide all type of Panchkarma treatment,” she added.

Panchkarma treatment is used to treat paralysis, cerebral palsy, sciatica, gout, arthritis, low back pain, poliomyelitis, mental retardation and insomnia.

Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Satish Chandra also spoke on the occasion and said the center would release funds for similar centers elsewhere soon.
