First Ovary Transplant Mother Speaks of Her Bliss Post Delivery!
Susanne Butscher, the first woman to give birth after an ovarian transplant, has spoken of her 'indescribable' bliss as she held her four-day-old baby girl.

The 39-year-old, who had become infertile after attaining early menopause, had been suffering from a consequent osteoporosis and diagnosed with premature ovary failure.

The first ovary transplant mother had then been implanted with healthy ovaries, in the US last year, taken from her twin sister that enabled her to conceive naturally.

"Being a mother at last is an indescribable feeling. It's been hard to take my eyes off her since she was born," the Telegraph quoted her as saying while she recovered at the Portland Hospital in London.

"Being the first woman in the world to give birth after a whole ovary transplant hasn't sunk in yet, but I'm just so grateful to the doctors who enabled this to happen and to my sister, of course.

"I'm happy to be sharing my story with the world to give other women hope who might have similar problems," she added.

Susanne, who had had an uncomplicated pregnancy, has decided to name her baby Maja - after the Roman goddess of fertility.
