In a fresh controversy for the Commonwealth Games, the Indian Federation of Sports Medicine (IFSM) has alleged that the physiotherapists recruited for the games were picked due to some sort of favoritism rather than their qualifications.

The IFSM went on to add that the Delhi government's director of health services, Dr S Bhattacharya and the director of SPG college and health services, Subir Ghosh selected 21 physiotherapists based on their "dubious nexus" and urged the chief minister, Sheila Dixit to launch a probe into the matter.

"CWG Delhi will go down in history as an event which has left no legacy for sports medicine in India. There are no sports medicine doctors in the medical team of CWG. Doctors, physios and masseurs of Sports Authority of India and the armed forces who have decades of experience in sports medical cover were deliberately kept out of the medical team of CWG to benefit vested interests", the IFSM added.
