Indian origin Paul Rajendran has been found guilty of raping a woman after luring her by pretending to be a salesman working with lingerie firm La Perla.

The convict had used a fake MySpace profile, with name James Carter, to arrange a meeting with the 23-year-old aspiring model in early March 2009.

He then arranged a meeting and raped her in a nearby office block, according to prosecutors.

A Downing Centre District Court jury of seven women and five men took a little over a day to decide on a guilty verdict.

Rajendran reportedly started crying after the decision was made, reports News.com.au.

Judge Deborah Payne also refused the application from Rajendran's barrister for bail.

The court has ordered for a full pre-sentence report before it takes up the case on April 15.
