Facebook is slowly gaining an unwanted reputation. A recent study revealed that the popular social networking website has been mentioned in more than a third of divorces filed in Britain in which "unreasonable behavior" was listed as a factor.
According to online law firm Divorce-Online, more than a third of 5,000 divorce petitions filed last year mentioned Facebook, a rise of more than 50 percent in the last two years.
AdvertisementSpeaking to the Daily Mail, the managing director of Divorce-Online, Mark Keenan said that Facebook is quickly becoming a major factor in divorces simply because of the ease with which it allows people to connect with each other.
"People contact ex-partners and the messages start as innocent, but lead to trouble. If someone wants to have an affair or flirt with the opposite sex then it's the easiest place to do it", Keenan said.
