This article says", Dr Lt Col A. Ravi Kumar, Professor and Head, Department of ENT, Head and Neck Surgery, Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute. The prestigious institution, situated in Chennai, capital of the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, is the ONLY medical college in the state to perform cochlear implants". This is mainly because of the Cochlear Implant monopoly in the country. Visit www.indiahearing.org to know about the same. Munnu.

I would like to know if there is any significant development made by DRDO on cochlear implants. I am working on an initiative to make Cochlear Implants affordable - in case anyone in this domain is interested in contribution by way of knowledge dissemination.

Hi Subir, I am very interested in this initiative of making Cochlear Implants affordable and would like to initiate discussions with you on this subject. I work with a company based out of Bangalore, India called Medived which makes advanced medical technologies affordable for emerging markets. We currently manufacture implantable devices such as pacemakers as well as implantable leads, programmers and PSAs at our facility. Please let me know if you are interested to chat further on the subject. Thanks. |
