A new book on the human brain offers fascinating insights on how emotions are higher in women than in men and why the fairer sex cry more than their male counterparts.

The Brain Book by Rita Carver reveals that the reason behind the high emotions in women is that there are structural and functional differences between male and female brains.

Structurally the brain has two hemispheres- the right and the left ones. These are connected by a thick band of nerves called the corpus callosum.

This band is slightly thicker in women than in men; meaning that the emotional side of the brain is in better co-ordination with the practical left side of the brain. The book says that this is the reason why women are more emotional and cry more than men.
