Eminent Ophthalmologists Receive Lifetime Awards
K S Sripathi, chief secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu, who presented the awards said that Tamil Nadu had become the leading state in offering cost-effective health services in the country. "The state can be rightly called as the country's health capital," he opined.
He also said that another major factor in the state getting a big slice of the healthcare pie was that the doctors were reliable and very efficient. "The dependency factor is one of the most important that makes patients visit the hospitals in the state in large numbers. The government will ensure that confidence of the patients in healthcare system of the state will be sustained in the years to come," he said.
Data indicates that 5.86 lakh of 6.5 lakh cataract surgeries performed in the state were performed in private settings.
