Imparting the right education to youngsters is the first step in obesity treatment, says Dr Dean Marshall, chairman of the British Medical Association's (BMA) Scottish general practitioner's committee.
The BMA's data indicates that over 40 people are diagnosed daily with diabetes, which is mainly caused by obesity. "What we are suggesting is that we have much more focus on children, ensuring that they have the right lifestyle information and don't actually end up obese," Dr Marshall said.
