Early Extra- Protein Diet Will Enhance IQ Level

Early days of an infant’s life are very crucial, especially when it comes to food and nutrition.

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and the UCL Institute of Child Health, London published a study in “ Pediatric Research” about the advantages of enhanced nutritional diet during the early days of infancy.

Premature babies who were randomly selected for the study were administered either high nutrient milk or a standard formula diet. Pre-term babies who were fed on enriched-formula diet were found to outsmart other premature babies in IQ testing.  A high correlation between nutrition and behavior was also noted.  Improved  food quality aids in the enhanced growth of caudate nucleus, a part that is highly associated with intelligence. The benefits gained during the early days fostered its  later development too .

This study, supposedly the maiden attempt in this field,  claims to have utmost biological significance.
