Dogs Feeding on Fetuses Triggers Outrage

In a shocking incident stray dogs were found feeding on aborted fetuses outside Sambhunath Pandit Hospital on Elgin Road in Kolkata. The incident has triggered widespread outrage in the city.

Locals said dogs found the fetuses wrapped in a gunny bag inside a vat. They dragged them out and completely ate one of the fetuses. �We were informed around 4.30 pm by the hospital authorities. We found a mutilated foetus and handed it over to them," said a senior officer of Bhawanipore police.

The south Kolkata district Congress and south Kolkata district Seva Dal protested over what they claimed was inaction on part of the hospital authorities. �The foetuses were spotted by the members of our party and locals around 12.30 pm,� said Asim Bose, secretary, south Kolkata District Congress. �Since the hospital super was not available, we informed the police. Around 4 pm, a foetus was still to be removed.�

A three member committee has been formed to probe the incident.
