Catherine Watkins of Essex visited the Southend Hospital at least four times in the last nine months complaining of severe abdominal pain but the doctors continued to insist that she was suffering from gallstones and refused to conduct CT scans.

However the doctors finally bowed down to the pressure from her daughter and conducted the scan before finding that she was suffering from advanced stage of liver and pancreatic cancer and would not live beyond a few months.

Mrs Watkins said that she feared something was very wrong after losing two stone in weight and was barely able to move due to her abdominal pain though the doctors continued to insist that it was just gallstones.
