Divorce Rates are Twice as High for Women Who are Serial Cohabiters
Women who cohabit with more than one partner serially are less likely to marry than females who stick to a single partner, a new study has found.

What's more, even if serial cohabiters do marry, they are twice as likely to get divorced.

During the study, Daniel T. Lichter of Cornell University and Zhenchao of Ohio State University tracked the experiences of serial cohabiters, or women who have cohabited with more than one partner.

They found that serial cohabiters were less likely to marry; moreover, divorce rates are twice as high for women who cohabited only with their eventual husbands.

"Understanding the myriad motivations of cohabiters may be more important than ever, especially if cyclical serial cohabiting couples with children have increased among recent cohorts as a percentage of all cohabitations," said Lichter.

The study also revealed that only a 15 to 20 percent of cohabiting women were involved in multiple cohabitations.

The study appears in Journal of Marriage and Family (JMF).

Divorce rates are high for one reason alone - contraception - with more women encouraged to sacrifice their virginity not for marriage but for pleasure. We have payback == divorce. The mind, understanding and spirit of a person is effected by the sexual union and the younger people have sex the greater the effect. One does not forget their sexual partners - that spiritual sexual union holds on until death and if a man has slept with 100 women and his wife with 100 men - we have 202 people jumping into the marriage bed. No wonder couple can't work it out. This is NOT a joke - its a fact. In the days of no contraception - we had more virgin marriages and hardly divorce to count now the number is becoming uncountable.
