Delhi Battles Dengue Ahead of CWG
With just over a month remaining before the start of the Commonwealth Games, the capital city has been rocked by a sharp rise in cases of dengue with more than 500 cases reported so far.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has admitted more than 50 patients suffering from the disease while new cases continue to arrive even as the hospital struggles to accommodate all the patients.

While the rise in dengue fever back in 2006 had been controlled by creating a special ward for such cases, there has been no such preparation this time around with a doctor revealing that all of the beds in the medicine ward have been booked.

“All wards are full. Nearly 50 patients including children are admitted for dengue fever. Every day we get 10 to 15 new admissions. Some are confirmed cases while others are suspected cases”, the doctor said.
