Danish PM to Join Childhood Cancer Charity Ride
Rasmussen, 44, who took office earlier this month, will set off July 18 with 275 other cyclists, for the 1,200-kilometre (750-mile) journey from the Danish town of Ringe to the French capital.
The Team Rynkeby event -- following a route that includes Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium -- aims "to raise money for the children's cancer fund," said its coordinator Karin Bloch-Bergsted.
Rasmussen's office, contacted by AFP, confirmed his participation.
Launched in 2001 by amateur riders, Team Rynkeby last year brought in 1.4 million krona (188,000 euros, 244,000 dollars) for childhood cancer research. Rasmussen participated in 2007 and again in 2008.
