Britney Spears' father has banned alcohol in any area that the pop princess may pass through while on her way from dressing room to the stage during her UK gigs, leaving many VIP guests fuming.
Access All Areas ticket holders at Britney's London gig were handed bottles of water at a recent O2 arena gig in London, instead of the usual glasses of chilled bubbly, to keep the 'Womaniser' star away from booze while on tour. The 27-year-old star's family have issued the blanket ban behind the stage, and even the staff have been asked to sign contracts promising that no booze will be available.
"Following her problems with alcohol, Britney had requested that everywhere backstage is alcohol free," the Sun quoted a source at the venue as saying.
The source added: "Her family is monitoring the situation very carefully and we've been made to sign contracts promising not to drink or allow any of the VIP guests to have alcohol in any of the backstage areas that Britney could use. It is very important to Britney that she doesn't see anybody drinking in her presence."
A gig goer, who purchased the AAA ticket, said: "Although I respect Britney's wishes, I was desperate for a drink myself. It certainly put a dampener on the night."
