A British doctor has designed a do-it-yourself dialysis machine that resulted in preserving the life of a baby dying from kidney failure.
Dr Malcolm Coulthard from Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary built this machine in his garage after it was found that baby Millie Kelly was too small for all available NHS machines. Millie was born with gastroschisis and an operation to correct this saw her kidneys fail.
