Could the Image of 'foetus Lying in an Ashtray' Melt a Smokers' Heart?
Eye popping images showing the dangers of smoking, which includes a foetus lying in an ashtray, have emerged in a campaign to deter people from lighting up.

The 10 pictures are part of the Brazilian Health Department's new anti-smoking drive.

Images include a family at the bedside of a gravely sick man and a man suffering from impotence.

According to the (WHO)World Health Organisation , in Brazil 17.2 per cent of 13- to 15-year-olds and 16.2 per cent of adults smoke, reports

The Cancer Council lists the smoking rate in Australia as 22.6 per cent of men and 17.6 per cent of women.

WHO says about 9 per cent of boys and 10 per cent of girls aged 12 to 17 smoked cigarettes.

The organisation estimates there are more than one billion smokers worldwide.

It says tobacco use kills 5.4 million people a year - an average of one person every six seconds - and accounts for one in 10 adult deaths worldwide.
