Most Australians are aware about the link between drinking and mental health problems, and how alcohol can actually worsen it, but many take to it for the immediate relief it provides in lifting ones spirits.

Nearly 3% of Australians thought that alcohol and mental health have no connection while one-fifth felt that consuming two standard drinks each day would not really affect an adult's mental health.
