An international research team including Australian Amanda Barnard have developed a diamond patch that can deliver targeted doses of chemotherapy to cancer patients.
''It's like a nicotine patch but it delivers chemotherapy,'' Dr Barnard, head of CSIRO's virtual nanoscience laboratory in Clayton, said. ''It will make treatment more tolerable.' 'It's much more gentle on the patient and it also means that we can control the release mechanism, so patients don't need repeated treatments."
