A Center for Excellence for Paramedics will soon be established in Punjab with the help of Rs. 100 crore granted by the Indian Government, stated Ghulam Nabi Azad, the Union minister for health and family welfare. The work for this center will begin within 2-3 months once the local MP Pawan Kumar Bansal identifies a site for the same.

While making this announcement Mr. Azad added, "After the coming up of these medical institutes, the workload and pressure on PGIMER (Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research) here will be far less as compared to today."
