Celine Dion has bared her heartache over four failed attempts to get pregnant again.

The acclaimed singer, who has five Grammy awards to her credit along with more than 200 million sale records, revealed she cried "rivers" over each unsuccessful bid to have a second child through IVF.

"You do everything right and you're careful and you rest and then... the disappointment hits you like a wave. But I swear, I'll keep trying until it works," the Daily Express quoted her as saying.

The 41-year-old star confessed resorting to the "gruelling" process of preparing her body for a fifth IVF attempt, which included wearing oestrogen patches, having blood tests every other day, undergoing ultrasound scans and having daily hormone injections.

She said: "I give the shots to myself. My thighs are bruised and numb and full of lumps from the long needles that go deep into the muscle. I don't want people saying, 'Oh, poor Celine,' but it does take a lot out of me."

But the My Heart Will Go On hitmaker and her husband and manager Rene Angelil, 68, were determined to keep going.

She added: "I feel more than blessed to have a son and I think a voice inside of me kept repeating, 'No more pressure, no more pressure' after the last result. But I'm thrilled now that Rene wants to keep going. I do too and, I swear, I'll keep trying until it works."
