The hunt for Colleen Janet Hauser and her son Daniel has gathered pace with the US Attorney's office and the FBI filing criminal charges against the mother. Colleen fled with Daniel to an undisclosed location in order to avoid chemotherapy for his cancer.
Anthony Hauser, the boy's father made an emotional appeal to his wife to come home with Daniel so he can get appropriate treatment for his Hodgkin's lymphoma.
"Please bring Danny home so we can decide as a family what Danny's treatment should be," he said. "Danny is my son and the rest of the family is worried sick about how he is. Please call me and let's talk about how we can work this out."
Brown County Sheriff Rich Hoffman also spoke at the press conference and said the most important person was Danny. He also added that they would not take an enforcement action if Colleen returned home with Danny.
Daniel's family want to try alternative cancer treatment for his Hodgkin's lymphoma. According to police sources, Danny and his mother were spotted in Southern California on Tuesday morning.
