Women are most likely to get a fit of giggles at 3pm, says a new UK survey.
The poll of 1,000 adults by cruise firm Ocean Village also found that Yorkshiremen are the most talkative commuters as well as the biggest pranksters at home.
By contrast commuters in the southwest were found to be the gloomiest, the study said.
The research revealed that 57 per cent of people have fits of uncontrollable laughter at least once a day, with men most likely to get the giggles at 11am, reports the Telegraph.
Sir Jimmy Savile, the veteran DJ, who gave his age as "nearly 100", said at his home in Leeds: "This is true about Yorkshire commuters being cheerful because only they realise what a wonderful county we live in.
"Because we keep it a secret it's not crowded, so we're happy. Please don't tell anybody it's here because it's marvelous and they'll want to come."
Dickie Bird, 75, the former Test cricket umpire who lives in Barnsley, said: "I think it's something to do with the Yorkshire spirit that we are all born with. Folk here work hard, play hard and are very positive.
"Yorkshire people are friendly and happy to chat anybody. I still travel a lot on the train and I love to chat to people I meet.
"In a lot of places people go out of their way to avoid talking to each other on the tube or the train or when they're travelling, but Yorkshire people are just the opposite - they're happy to talk to strangers."
