Seattle-based portable ultrasound machine manufacturer SonoSite has announced the launch of its impedance cardiography (ICG) system for use in the non-invasive monitoring of hemodynamics to be used by anesthesiologists. The company said that the new system can also be used in critical care units or the emergency room. The new product allows for more invasive pulmonary artery catheterization than is currently available.
SonoSite also revealed in a released statement that “the benefits of standardizing hemodynamic monitoring, including the BioZ Cardio Profile, for surgical procedures in the anesthesia suite” is currently being investigated by researchers at the Duke University.
