Beer Belly Saves Pub Landlord

by Rajshri on Feb 26 2010 9:47 PM

43-year-old Snaz Martin was saved from fatal injuries to his vital organs thanks to his beer belly. Martin was stabbed by a thug, who he had thrown out of his pub, but doctors said it was his beer belly that probably saved him from damage to his vital organs.

Martin was stabbed by a knife outside of The Britannia in Gillingham High Street in 2009. "The doctor said I was lucky I had a bit of fat around my belly area as the knife would have penetrated my vital organs otherwise," he said.

The knife apparently missed his prostate gland very narrowly, doctors at the Medway Maritime Hospital told Mr Martin.

Martin was attacked by Paul Whibley, who he had thrown out of his pub for rowdy behavior. The latter was sentenced to a four-year prison sentence at Canterbury Crown Court.
