by Rajashri on Sep 9 2009 11:30 PM

Private insurance firm Bajaj Allianz has offered free life insurance cover for one year for all staff at Naidu Hospital, isolation ICU at the Infosys building of Sasson Hospital and National Institute of Virology (NIV) engaged in treating swine flu cases.

"Our staff at NIV has been working day in and day out and their safety comes first on our list," said A C Mishra, director of NIV. "All the staff at the NIV have been given insurance cover by the government and their safety is of prime importance. But a private insurance firm coming fore on its own to extend free insurance cover to this staff dealing with swine flu at various capacities is indeed commendable. This gesture will go a long way in boosting the morale of the staff."

A staff of 67 resident doctors, 57 nurses and 30 consultants is busy treating swine flu cases at the hospitals, where the mortality rate has been low.

Kamesh Goyal, country manager, Allianz and CEO, Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance handed over the free policy bonds to Arun Jamkar, dean of Sasson Hospital, A C Mishra, director of NIV and Sudhir Patsute, acting head, Naidu Hospital.
