The Quality Council of India.will be roped in by the Department of Ayush under the Central Government in a scheme to brand ayurveda products.
Department of Ayush joint secretary B Anand said that such a procedure would maintain the quality of products sold on the domestic markets. He made these comments while speaking to news persons at the sidelines of the Global Ayurveda Summit which concluded on Friday.
"This will give rise to two types of branding, `premium' and `standard'. Those who want to export products can go in for the premium brand, wherein products with `standard' branding could be sold in the domestic market," Anand said.
The move follows opinions by delegates at the summit that branding these products would help in greater acceptance on international markets.
