Yahoo!7 said that ’Britney Spears’ wins hands down as the topmost searched term on Australia’s internet.

The second most popular search engine in Australia, which records around two million users a month, found Britney beat Heath Ledger, the Olympics, Angelina Jolie, the global economic slump, the US election, to name a few, to claim the title.

The ’Toxic’ hit maker’s rebound, from her pair of hospitalisations and a series of erratic behaviour, including her infamous head-shaving in 2007, made her the popular search topic.

The Couriermail reports, that the pop singer was the most favoured search term after her stunning comeback from an absolute low point".

Yahoo!7’s Amanda Millar said: "Our analysis of what Australians search for each year is like a cultural barometer of what Australians find interesting and important."
