65% of Dengue Cases Reported in the Age Group of 15-45 Years in Delhi

East Delhi Municipal Corporation analysis on dengue cases reported that 65% of the cases were in the age group of 15 to 45 years. It shows that work places were the major spots of breeding for mosquitoes. Around 53 cases were reported in different areas of Delhi this year, where 14 out of 22 patients belong to that age group.The East Corporation commissioner, Amit Yadav, has appealed to all the government and autonomous bodies like offices, education institutions and commercial establishments to initiate suitable steps to prevent mosquito breeding. He has also advised citizens to take preventive measures like covering water tanks, keeping areas clean and dry without any stagnation of water.

 "This analysis has helped us figure out that we need to focus more on workplaces apart from visiting houses. We have instructed our officials to check the breeding of mosquito and penalize defaulters," said Yadav.

In 2014, the city had reported three deaths and recorded nearly 1,000 cases. In 2013, over 5,500 cases were reported, while six people died due to the disease. The capital had witnessed a large number of dengue cases in 2010 with over 6,000 cases reported in the city.
