Over 51,000 hospitals in the country have been set up and upgraded in the last 10 years, Health Minister of India stated. The hospitals came up at the district, sub-district, community and primary health centre levels, Azad said here while announcing the upgradation of the Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College, Jhansi.
Azad said the centre has allocated Rs.1.5 billion for the project.
He added that the government has allocated Rs.152.99 billion to Uttar Pradesh in the last nine years under the National Rural Health Mission.
The government has also launched a number of schemes for pregnant women and mothers and children, the minister said.
