The wheelchair which may be available in the next five years comprises a laser scanner that is capable of mapping the surroundings, all in 3D. A haptic robot, which can be held in the left hand, communicates this data as useful information. A joystick is provided which the user can use in the right hand.

This 3D sensing wheelchair is going through the initial testing phase.

This is good. It would be easier to disabled persons to be able to "walk" again with the help of the wheelchair. but i think this would be expensive since its employs the latest technologies so only the rich can afford to buy it.
