 363 Vaccination Centers Set Up Under ‘Mission Indradhanush’ in Udupi District, Karnataka
As many as 363 vaccination centers have been set up under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s ‘Mission Indradhanush’ program in Udupi district in the Karnataka state of India. The program would be launched in the district on October 7.
Udupi is among the 11 medium focus districts and comes under the second phase of the program, said Rohini, an official with the District Health and Family Welfare.

The vaccination program aims to cover all those children who are partially vaccinated and unvaccinated and also pregnant women.

The vaccination will protect children against seven dangerous diseases such as diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B. Vaccination against tetanus will be given to the pregnant women.

As many as 2,904 kids upto the age of two years and 761 pregnant women will be benefited from the program in the district. The department had made special efforts to enroll all women and children living in migrant workers colonies in the district to the program.

Mobile vaccination teams would visit these colonies. The official added that the program would be implemented with the cooperation of Departments of Education, Women and Child Welfare, Revenue and other voluntary organizations.
