Just 30 minutes of jogging or cycling can significantly reduce the risk early death from heart disease, say researchers.

During the study, researchers offered patients 12 weeks of exercise classes of 30 or 40 minutes of walking, rowing or jogging and were given advice on diet and lifestyle improvements.

The study showed that in just three months it reduced the risk of early death by 60 per cent, reports the Daily Express.

It also showed that exercise could help reduce levels of stress.

Heart patients are generally prescribed drugs such as statins, which lower cholesterol levels, and blood pressure medication to reduce the risk of death from strokes, heart attacks and heart disease.
