by Rajshri on Feb 2 2010 9:55 PM

The Medical Council of India has decided to increase the number of PG seats in medicine by 2,000 starting this year.

MCI President Ketan Desai said that a proposal to increase the PG seats by 1,000 had already received clearance from the Union Health Ministry and that an additional 1,000 seats would also be approved.

Some 45 medical colleges from 12 states have applied to the MCI for increasing their PG intake. The new moves follow a decision by the government to number of PG seats and have two students for every professor in the college as opposed to one.
