20% Gay, Bisexual Men Unaware About Their HIV Positive Status
Research suggests that 1 in 5 gay or bisexual men with HIV in Auckland are unaware that they have the virus.
Shaun Robinson of the AIDS Foundation said, "Men who don't know they are HIV positive risk passing it on to their partners."

According to the research, 6.5% participants were HIV positive, of which 20.9% did not know that they had the disease.

Lead author of the study, Dr. Peter Saxton of the Otago University said, "People with undiagnosed HIV are delaying treatment that can improve their quality of life and life expectancy."

The study is published by BMC Public Health.
