159 Prostate Biopsies at Royal Alexandra Hospital Being Reviewed for Errors

159 prostate biopsy pathology tests conduced between July and September at Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton this year is now being reviewed on a war footing for critical errors in diagnosis. The review may come as a rude shock to many patients who were earlier given a clean chit. The physician responsible is also under scrutiny to check whether the errors committed were due to negligence or oversight.

The hospital has fortunately acted without much delay and are doing their best to compensate patients with speedy treatment.

AHS President and CEO Dr. Chris Eagle has apologized for the tension caused to patients and has also confirmed that the hospital is working speedily to evaluate the remaining biopsies.
